2016: a year all about school (and maybe dolls too)

Now that 2015 is coming to a close, it's time to look forward. I expect 2016 to be quite a busy and probably hectic year for me personally, so my plan is to not make too many doll plans :P

First I'm going to explain why I expect 2016 to be more busy that usual.
As some of you know the spring semester will be my final at my bachelor/under-graduate program. Then I plan to continue on a master/graduate program and right now my biggest wish is to study Omics (the study of proteins, DNA and so forth) at SDU (University of Southern Denmark). The thing that makes Omics special is that it is not taught at SDU, but at UCAS (University of the Chinese Academy of Science) in Beijing. This both excites me and scares me, but I really wish to go. If I do go I can look forward to living 1-2 years in Beijing.
It is not set in stone, but I'm excited about this, so it is likely to happen (if they accept me).

So moving half way around the world means I need to save money now. That is why I can't really afford to buy more dolls. Nor do I have the luxury of waiting for a new doll. I really hope the body I'm paying off in January will be my last doll purchase for the year.

This leads us to my "My doll plans for 2016":

* Get Marius home (I have the head and I'm paying the body off in January). I might need to modify the neck a little bit, but let's see what he gets here.
When Marius is home I need to work on both him and his sister, Marina, both their characters and their looks. Marina will get a completely new style and character. I know parts of their story and I will tell you about it later.
The picture does not represent their styles or characters:

* Get Popodoll Ramiel home. I expect him to ship in February. His character is not yet finished. I know his personality but I do not know his style yet. I do plan to have his human eye modified to be an open eye insted unless it's too difficult (I need to look inside his head first to judge)
I bought him blank in Tan and on the 70cm body. I'm pretty excited to see him:

* Get Twigling Kahlo home. As with Ramiel I expect her to ship in February, but I honestly don't know as Twigling often is behind on shipping. I know what character she was planned for in the Pirates universe, but I don't know how well she'll fit.
I got her in Vivid on the shortest possible body (about 62cm):

* Work on Sparrow. Her outfits needs to be modified to fit her body better. Her faceup is dirty and needs to be redone. I need to decide on a wig for her. I really do like these green ED eyes in her so she's probably gonna keep them.
Restinging and maybe sueding her. Her body is much worse that Marinas (both on the SD16 body, but Marina's body is recently restrung so she poses much better).

* If I have time and money I wish to work more on Voodoo. But I have decided that I can wait (if I have to) to finish him until after I come back from China. He already looks so much like the character that I am actually quite happy with him in his WIP state :D

*Simply Divine Medusa Valentina. I wish to get her a body, but I don't think it's possible this year. The cheapest body I'm looking at is about $600 (Dollstown 17 year old girl in pale tan)

* If I go to China, I'm not gonna bring any SD dolls. I plan on taking only a suitcase, and SD dolls simply take up too much room. I might just bring the little Fox girl (a gift from Avi) as luck.
So I need to decide if I want to sell some dolls or pack them to be stored at Avi's. I know, I can get Iplehouse Rex, Twigling Kahlo, and Simply Devine Medusa Valentina easily enough again if I do sell them, but I don't really want to see Nathaniel go (and he would be damn expensive to re-purchase from Iplehouse). The other two might end up being sold, but I might wish to keep them also :P

2015: a year of a lot of changes in dolls

In 2015 I decided to make the Freaks universe. I used to say that I only wanted one universe for my dolls, and in 2015 I was going to work on my pirates only.
That changed when I finally decided to buy my Voodoo king (only bought him then because Fifth Motif was going to discontinue him). I had planned the Freaks for next year or the year after, but now I can't imagine not having my lovely little Freaks already.

I started 2015 with these dolls (dolls in bold are still with me):
Volks YoTenshi Yuh
Volks SD16 Ruby
Elfdoll tan Ruru SD16 hybrid
Peakswoods Dlight
Ringdoll Zombie Sol
Iplehouse Bibiane
Iplehouse Asa Twigling hybrid
Twigling Ylisande nYID hybrid
Twigling Ingenieuse

New dolls in 2015:
Iplehouse EID Rex
Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca
Elfdoll Vivien hybrid
Fifth Motif Venitu
Soom Bix hybrid
Ringdoll Norman Dark Side 2.0 head
Simply Divine Medusa Valentina head
Volks SD16 Ruby head

And then I'm waiting for:
Popodoll Ramiel
Twigling Kahlo
Ringdoll RGM-4 body (for the Ruby head)

I don't like floating heads:
I'm either keeping the Ringdoll Norman Dark Side head or selling it to my friend, Avi. She mentioned that she would love to make two different characters with the same head, and if she wants to do that when she returns from New Zealand, then I'll let her buy the head. I don't actually need it right now, but I'm not going to sell it to others, as I believe I might want to make a Joker character later on.
The Simply Divine Medusa Valentina head is probably getting a body as soon as I can buy one, but it will probably depend on what I do for my Master Program in Uni. She is currently the lowest priority right now.
The last floating head is my Volks SD16 Ruby. I'm buying a body for him on layaway. I hope to have the body in late January.

One Ruby, two Rubies...

Making Ruby siblings; Marina and Marius
Deciding Marina should no longer be the Commodore I needed something else for her, and I decided on giving her a brother...
I have a Volks SD16 Ruby girl but I want a boy too. First, is getting one more Ruby head and then getting a Ringdoll RGM-4 body in tan to match.
First step was actually very easy; I decided on getting Ruby siblings a week ago, and when I went on DoA there was a Ruby head for sale. Nice and easy.
Second step was also easy; I knew I wanted a RGM-4 body in tan from this year because I knew that would match very well. So I looked on DoA and there was one. I asked to buy it on a layaway, and that was fine.
I'm surprised by how easy it was to find the head and body to make a Ruby boy. And I'm surprised it did not cost more ($700 total for head and body, which is a lot of money but it's less than I feared).
Here is a pretend picture, with Marina as both herself and her brother Marius. As Marius she is on a RGM-4 body in NS, but I know Ringdoll tan is a good match for Volks ebony. The height difference will be about 4cm, I assume.

When a Sparrow flew out to Sea

I'm changing a few things in my universe. Marina will join the Freaks with her brother (yes, she's getting a brother!!), and Sparrow will no longer be Xiomara, but will take over Marina's character of Commodore in the English Navy.
I think, Commodore Sparrow sounds nice.

The Commodore character will stay the same except a little name change from Marina to Sparrow.
I don't think I've mentioned the Commodore that much here, so I'll tell you a little about her.
(I've tried to write the years for each battle whenever I mention them to keep it easier to follow. Right now there are only 3 important battles; the Civil War (1642-51), the First Dutch War (1652-1654) and the Anglo-Spanish War (1654-1660))

Ok, so the Commodore is Nathaniel's boss in the Navy. This is the most import aspect of her character because Nathaniel is the main character in the Pirate-universe.

I don't know if you know what/who a commodore in the navy is? I'll just explain a little about the Navy first.
A captain is the leader of one ship (a captain is the commanding officer on a ship) and the commodore is the leader of multiple ships; a squadron (a squadron could also be commanded by an admiral. It usually depends on the size and the importance of the squadron. A more important squadron/mission is lead by an admiral and not a commodore). And multiple squadrons make up a fleet.
So, imagine ten ships going out on a mission together. They might not have need of an admiral so a commodore is used instead. The commodore is a captain of one of the ships, but is also the leader of the entire operation. The one all the other captains need to answer to. Usually the commodore is the most senior captain, but Sparrow was not the most senior captain in the squadron, which is part of the reason many hated her because of her promotion. She proved herself to the captains in her squadron, however.

And now back to Commodore Sparrow:

She is a small lady, but she's tough, fights well, cleaver about strategies, and she's well respected. It wasn't always like that.

She joined the Navy when she was still very young (about 8 years old) and she pretended to be a boy. Because she was a child they didn't notice that she was a girl. She hid her gender very well, but during the Civil War (around 1650) she was wounded badly and the truth was discovered.
When she was discovered she had already proven herself to the admiral who was the leader of the squadron she was in then, and the Board of Admiralty decided to use her as a public figure and made her a commodore (they promoted her fast and instead of others, who deserved the promotion more).

Her abilities were questioned by all, but she proved her worth in the First Dutch War (1652-1654), before being sent to the West Indies in the Anglo-Spanish War (1654-1660). Nathaniel sails under her, and they are pretty friendly. All the captains who sail under her greatly respect her, because they all were with her in the First Dutch War where she proved herself to them.

In the Anglo-Spanish War (1654-1660) she'll prove herself to the entire nation, and she'll become a great hero, but that is in the future for her because the Pirates-story takes place during the Anglo-Spanish War.
Now Sparrow is eager to prove herself to all those who doubt her. Mostly captains in other squadrons and some higher ranking officers. She does not have to prove herself to the captains who sail under her, as she has already done that (during the First Dutch War in 1652-54).

Makes sense? I sometimes think the Pirates-universe is more difficult to follow than the Freaks-universe because of all the battles, ranks, nations, and places that are part of the story.

Just a small update on the dollies

I was tagged to do this list on Instagram, so I wanted to post it here too. I've added a few more comments here.

My dolls:
•••• Jules (not present in the photo as she is on vacation): Lillycat Ellana in grey. She is my newest doll, and I haven't had time to do anything to her yet. She is the second fate (Elliot is the first, Jules the second, and 'Popodoll Ramiel' will be the third when he arrives).
From top to down and from left to right (a * indicates this is just a head):
•••• Voodoo: Fifth Motif Venitu in Honey Caramel Brown. Arrived in May. I have to heads for him; one is his voodoo-magic head and the other is his 'normal' head. He dates Scorpio. He is still a WIP!

•••• Joker*: Ringdoll Norman Dark Side 2.0 head in NS. I actually have no plan to work on him yet. It will wait a long time. WIP.

•••• Henry: Soom Bix hybrid on Ringdoll RGM-4 in NS. I changed his original body for the body Joker arrived with. I don't like the old Soom bodies, so I was happy to change Bix to this body.

•••• Scorpio: Elfdoll Vivien hybrid on Soom Vesuvia body. The head is heavily blushed to match. I've had many different versions of Elfdoll Vivien, but Scorpio is probably my favorite as all the things that frustrated me with the other Viviens has been taken care of here. She dates Voodoo.

•••• Snakey*: Simply Divine Medusa Valentina Head in Cinnamon Tan. She is a WIP. I hope to get her a Dollshe girl body in Pale Tan.

•••• Zombie: Ringdoll Zombie Sol in grey skin. He has been with my for years now. Zombie's sister is Elsa Maria. WIP as he has new hands that must be painted. I just made him a new wig so now I just need to paint his new fancy hands.

•••• Elliot: Volks YoTenshi Yuh in NS. The doll I have had for the longest time. She is my only non-SD doll. I've considered selling her before but I can't do it, and now I finally have a character for her that fits with my other dolls. She is the first Fate.

•••• Elsa Maria: Peakswoods open eye Dlight in grey skin. She is a one-off from Peakswoods from December last year. I just fell in love with her color when I saw it, and I knew I had to have her.

•••• Cyborg: Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca in peach gold. I think she's a very interesting doll. She is a WIP.
(Voodoo, Henry, Scorpio, Zombie, Snakey, and Cyborg are my Freaks. Also is this universe is Elliot as a the first Fate, Jules as the second Fate, and Elsa Maria as Zombie's sister. This universe is very open and I can always fit in a new doll/character)

•••• Sparrow / Xiomara: Elfdoll Ruru hybrid on Volks SD16 body in ebony. She is good friends with Alonso. Still a WIP. I've changed Sparrow's character a few times but now I'm happy with the character and I can start to 'make' her come alive.

•••• Alonso*: Granado Mads in bronze. Good friends with Sparrow. Enemies with Morgan, Marina, and Nathaniel. Also still a WIP. I hope to find a proper body for him soon.

•••• Morgan: Twigling Ylisande hybrid on Iplehouse nYID body in light brown. Dating Nathaniel. Ylisande has been a dream doll of mine for a long time, and finally I was able to have one myself.

•••• Marina: Volks SD16 Ruby in ebony. She's friends with Nathaniel. Also still a WIP. Ruby was the first Volks doll I really loved but it was very difficult to get one. Her charecter

•••• Nathaniel: Iplehouse Rex in real skin. He's one of the auction dolls from Iplehouse so he was pretty cheap to get. He's dating Morgan and good friends with Marina. Enemy of Alonso.
(Sparrow, Alonso, Morgan, Marina, and Nathaniel are in my Pirates-universe)

And currently I'm waiting for two dolls;
Twigling Khalo in vivid skin from the long preorder. She is part of a trade between my friend Lise and me. I plan to use her in the pirates universe.
Popodoll Ramiel in tan. I bough him from the agent on Ebay. Expected shipping is January/ February. He will be the third Fate in my Freaks universe.

Should I do a blog to explain who and what the Fates are? I can't decide if I should do it before I have Ramiel home.

As you know; my dolls live in two different universes, and here I will show you some the dolls from the Freaks universe (there are more dolls in this universe that just these four, but they are still WIPs). I am sorry for the very boring backgrounds. These pictures are not new, but I wanted to show you the characters and tell a little about how they met and became friends...

The Freaks all have some physical flaw that they assume makes them non-human.

The first character we meet in this universe is Hamlet Jones. He's from a loving family and he has a younger sister. He was top of his classes and studied to become a doctor, but he got a strange sickness. He suffers from a form of encephalopathy sickness, which makes his skin rot of the bones, and his mental abilities deteriorate because many small holes appear in his cortex, which will eventually make his brain a sponge. Because of his sickness we call him Zombie.
He has tried many different medicines, but not a lot is known of his sickness. Now he wants to try alternative treatment.

Zombie meets a pretty girl called Phryne Ffoulkes. She lived on the other side of the dessert, but had to escape. Crossing the dessert she almost died, but she was saved by a witch. To save Phryne
scorpion poison was used. But it fused with her body, and she got a Scorpio tail (but she survived). Because of her tail we call her Scorpio.
Scorpio is still a pretty girl but she does not think herself pretty anymore after she got the tail, and she wants it gone.

Zombie and Scorpio quickly becomes friends. They are both loners but they see in the other person someone who can understand them.
Both Zombie and Scorpio hear talk of Voodoo magic, and wonder if it can save them. Together they seek the Voodoo king to help the. But to do voodoo magic he needs ingredients and someone destroyed his home and all of his ingredients. Together the 3 friends set out to find new ingredients.

The friends run into Henry D'Arcy. He is a gentleman (his nickname is Gentleman) but he suffered a very great loss when he was young, and his depression took the form of a claw-arm (as long as Henry suffers his depression the claw will remain).
After about 15 years with a claw-arm, he now sees it as a fixed part of him, and no not believe it can change. Henry is not dependent on voodoo magic but on love to be healed, but he stays with the Freaks because they do not judge him. Henry is a scholar so he knows a lot. He and Voodoo become very good friends and often discuss books and papers.

Henry becomes friends with the others and together they set off on new adventures.
Along the way Scorpio and Voodoo fall in love. She is afraid that he can't remove her tail, because she believes the flaw is a hindrance in their relationship. She does not understand that he loves her exactly as she is, so he will not let her go even if he cannot remove her scorpion tail.

Zombie is a Ringdoll Zombie Sol
Scorpio is an Elfdoll Vivien hybrid
Voodoo is a Fifth Motif Venitu
Henry is a Soom Bix hybrid

I will introduce the other two planned Freaks when they are ready; Snakey and Cyborg.
Snakey is a Simply Divine Medusa Valentina. I need to buy her a body soon. When I have her body will I be able to work on her.
Cyborg is a Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca. I need to finish her faceup, clothes and accessories.

New photos of Henry D'Arcy [Soom Bix hybrid]

I can't believe Henry is almost finished!! :D He needs a new faceup but same style as this one, and he needs a new blushing of the claw arm.

In my last post I showed a picture of Henry with his normal arms, but he actually has the claw arm for most of his life. When the friends from my Freaks universe first meet Henry, they see him like this...

Henry D'Arcy [Soom Bix Hybrid]

I've changed a few things about Henry (mostly I made him a scholar). This is Henry's story so far...

Henry is very much a gentleman, which is why his nickname is Gentleman (you know me, my dolls from the Freaks universe must have a nickname).

When Henry was young (about 14) he suffered a great loss; his little sister was raped and murdered by her uncle. His parents never recovered from her death, and they slowly gave up on life. As a result Henry was forced to take care of his parents while trying to attend school. It didn't work; Henry wasn't always able to attend school regularly, so his teachers kept failing him. In the end Henry stopped going to school, and stayed home taking care of his parents. But he never gave up on studying and studied on his own.
Studying on his own made him independent and he was a quick learner. He was like a sponge with knowledge, and when he was in his twenties he communicated with other scholars around the word (they assumed he was older than he was because both his knowledge, his way of writing, and his way of addressing people seemed to belong to someone much older).

Henry suffered greatly the loss of his sister and also the loss of his parents (their minds died on the same day as their daughter), and his depression took the form of a claw-arm (as long as Henry suffers his depression the claw will remain). After more than ten years with a claw-arm, he now sees it as a fixed part of him.

For the next 10-15 years, Henry took care of his parents. Then they died (natural causes) leaving Henry all alone. He eventually left his childhood home with his books (he was then 30). He wanted to seek out knowledge in the old libraries all over the world.
The Fates decided to put him in the path of Zombie, Voodoo, Scorpio, Medusa, and Cyborg...

This picture shows Henry with no Claw arm, so it's from after he met the other Freaks and they helped him battle his depression.

I saw this was a thing again this year. And since I really do support legit dolls and the wonderful artists who makes these dolls for us, I made a picture for this year also.
This is Voodoo trying to convince you to support the artists.

Colour me (pleasantly) confused

So apparently there are people out there, who seem to enjoy seeing my dolls.

I always imagined it was only me, who liked my dolls, (and my friends because I told them to like my dolls). Lately I've come to realize this belief is wrong; there are actually strangers, who like my dolls!

It started when I found a new group on facebook called BJD Addicts. It's a large group with over 7000 members, so there's a lot pictures and a lot of discussion. It seemed like a nice place, so I posted a "I'm new here and this is one of my dolls"-post there with a picture of Scorpio. That post has over 250 likes and 18 comments. I was (and still am) surprised by the welcome both me and Scorpio got. So I posted a new photo of Voodoo and Scorpio. It wasn't that great a photo actually; no background, bad lighting, Voodoo as a WIP (you can even see the putty holding his eyes in place!), Scorpio looks a bit weird. Still the photo has over 260 likes and 21 comments.
On the Danish site the picture of Voodoo and Scorpio got more than 20 likes and 3 comments, which is also a lot considering we are about 70 members.
Also on Instagram both photos got about 50-60 likes, which is a lot of likes for me.
I'm still amazed by it all.
Also for both photos the comments were positive! I have a fear someone will say something bad about my dolls, because I know it will hurt me. I don't really know how to deal with criticism, so every time I post a picture or a post I get a stomach ache. This is also the reason why I don't post pictures that often.

Of course I love both of these dolls, but I just didn't actually think others did too. I though Scorpio was too strange as a hybrid to be liked by another than me, and I though no one would like a dark tan Venitu, as there are so few of him in that colour.

These are the two pictures:
Scorpio finally got an outfit that I really like. It's from Iplehouse.

Voodoo's using Nathaniel's hair and pants, but I hope to have his own soon. The vest is new and just perfect to the imagine I have of him, but I need to fix it a bit. I'm starting to fall in love with Voodoo myself :P I'm so happy I panicked and bought Venitu when I did.
Fun fact, Scorpio is actually the tallest of the two (when wearing the Vesuvia resin-shoes), but it fits very well with my characters.

Dolls, Lists, Story Arcs

I'm starting to have quite a few dolls. Therefore, I have quite a few characters. Sometimes I get a little confused (like "how do I spell Jude's last name?" and "where exactly do Sparrow belong?"). This is a list of my dolls, their characters, and three word to describe them (I saw it on Resin Garden, but I'm not sure if I'll post this list there too).
I made this list, so that I can keep track of my characters, who is who, and who is in what story arc etc.
The Fates belong in the same universe as the Freaks (the Pirates do not). Some of these characters have not yet been introduced, three do not even have a name, two I have only as heads, and one is not even a doll yet (25/10 Edit: the doll is ordered!!!).

The Three Fates:

Volks YoTenshi Yuh - Miss Elliot (Baby Fate. The Creator of Life): Fun, cute, and mature.
Lillycat Ellana - Jules (Teenager Fate. The Maker of Happiness): Fun, cute, and childish.
Popodoll Ramiel - (Adult Fate. The Bringer of Death): Sad, strong, and fun.
The Freaks:
Elfdoll Vivien hybrid - Phryne Ffoulkes (Scorpio): Sexy, Strong, and loving
Ringdoll Zombie - Hamlet Jones (Zombie): Sad, strong, and weak
Fifth Motif Venitu - Jude Effrayant (the Voodoo King): Intelligent, stubborn, and fun
Simply Divine Medusa Valentina (head only) - (Snake Lady): Sad, strong, and loving
Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca - (Cyborg): Loyal, hot-headed, and fierce
Soom Bix hybrid - Henry D’Arcy (the Sad Gentleman): Sad, loyal, and gentleman

The Pirates:
Twigling Ylisande hybrid - Captain Morgan O'Malley: Fierce, strong, and hot-headed
Iplehouse Rex - Captain Nathaniel Henry Milton: Intelligent, strong, and forgiving
Volks Ruby - Marina: Loyal, intelligent, and loving
Granado Mads (head only) - Alonso: Loyal, strong, and weak
Elfdoll Ruru - Sparrow/Xiomara: Pretender, strong, and intelligent

WIP Cyborg Wonder Woman

My newest project is turning my Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca into a cyborg version of Wonder Woman.

So far I've been working on painting her cyborg body, making her wig, and her headband. I gave her a very quick faceup just so she had a face of some kind.

I do not have time to work more on her until after my exams (starts in two weeks and I'm so behind on revision!)

I still need to work on:
Faceup - she just got a quickly made and very temporary one.
Eyes - she'll probably get ED eyes in 10mm or Mako eyes in 12mm.
Headband - paint a red star, and try to find a better way of attaching it.
Outfit - she's getting a skirt because I don't much like the panties in her cyborg-armor. I'm not sure a corset; I think not but I'm really uncertain (what do you think?)

Here is a picture of her as she looks right now:

1. Do you collect anything other than dolls?
Yes. But it's only for dolls I call it 'collecting'. I have many books, manga, movies, cds, Doctor Who figures, etc.

2. Why did you start a doll blog?

Can't remember...

3. Do you have one particular doll that is the favourite in your collection?
I do have favorites but it changes from time to time. Right now Henry (Soom Bix) is probably my favorite because he is the newest.

4. Your favourite doll accessory?

Probably weapons but also fantasy parts.

5. Do you know exactly how many dolls you have in your collection (you don't have to tell the number of course :-) )?

I'm always waiting for or selling something. I know I have more than 10 but less than 15. Finished dolls, I have 4: Morgan, Nathaniel, Zombie, and Miss Elliot.

6. Do you play any instruments and if so, what?

7. Where is your most favourite place you've ever been?
I've been some fantastic places in my travels. It's hard to choose. Maybe Thailand because it truly is a country of smiles.

8. What is your most favourite thing about yourself?
I really don't know. Maybe the fact that I started university and is still attending. Many of my friends from high school have married and settled down now. Instead I applied to university even knowing I would be older than most of the other students.

9. Favourite book or movie?
That's a tough one. There are the books that were important to me when I was a child/teenager like the Wide Mage books by Tamora Pierce  and the Chrestomanci series by Diana Wynne Jones.
I still read these books because they are like a part of me now.
Later I discovered the Harry Potter books, and that universe completely sucked me in. I don't so much read the HP books anymore but I read fanfiction. To me the universe of the HP books are so great and vast and I love to see where other people can take it, and I love to write fanfiction in that universe too.
Generally I love fantasy books but still Jane Austen's books really captivated me when I was a teenager. I really like the stories and the heroins. To me Pride and Prejudice might just be one of the greatest love stories ever told.

10. If you could design your own doll, how would it look like?
It would be a tan boy or girl with a face that really spoke to me, and a  body that could pose really amazing. And SD-sized.

The sad gentleman

I'm introducing a new character to the Freaks and Geeks story; Henry D'Arcy.

Henry is gentleman through and through, but he is also a very sad man. Therefore, I call him The Sad Gentleman (very cleaver, right?)

When Henry was young he suffered a great loss; his little sister was raped and murdered by her uncle. His parents never recovered from her death, and they slowly gave up on life. As a result Henry was forced to take care of his parents while trying to attend school. It didn't work; Henry wasn't always able to do his homework or attend school regularly, so his teachers kept failing him. In the end Henry stopped going to school, and stayed home taking care of his parents. For the next ten years, Henry's life consisted of just taking care of his parents.

Then his parents died (natural causes) leaving Henry all alone.

Henry eventually left his childhood home, and went on an adventure. He had no plan as to where he was going, but Fate put him in the path of Zombie, Voodoo, Scorpio, Medusa, and Cyborg...

This is a picture I found that I feel represent Henry as I see him:
This is the doll to be Henry; a Soom Bix hybrid on a Ringdoll RGM-4 body.
The doll needs a new faceup, eyes (these are Nathaniel's), wig (this is Nathaniel's) etc.
He needs pretty much everything!

Phryne, Jude, and Hamlet

All my dolls in the Freaks and Geeks story have both nicknames and real names.

Zombie's real name is Hamlet Jones
Voodoo's real name is Jude Effrayant
Scorpio's real name is Phryne Ffoulkes

I don't yet know the real names of Snake Lady and Cyborg, but I imagine they will tell me when they arrive.

There is a meaning behind every name I choose for my characters.

Hamlet Jones:

Hamlet is from the Shakespeare. My Hamlet looks like a corpse and he is prone to be melancholy, bitter, and cynical. He is also reflective and thoughtful and he has studied at the University. People fear him, and part of him really hates it but an other part of him takes a twisted pleasure from it.

Jones is from Indiana Jones. Hamlet is also an adventurer and a bit of a geek. With his friends (the freaks) he is happy and often laughing.

Jude Effrayant:

Jude is from Jude Law. Sorry, but I just love that man!

Effrayant is a French word for scary, and as I'm basing my Voodoo king in New Orleans, I felt it appropriate to give him a French name. And Voodoo is a bit of a scary man.

Phryne Ffoulkes:

I really like the name Bryony but it didn't fit the character quite well, so when I read about Phryne from ancient Greece, I knew I had found the right name.
Phryne is a very beautiful and cleaver girl, but she's had a hard life. In ancient Greece, the name of Phryne was a nickname sometimes given to courtesans and prostitutes.
My Phryne is brave and she only cares about her friends. She gives absolutely zero f**ks about strangers and what they think of her.

Ffoulkes is from Sir Andrew Ffoulkes from the Scarlet Pimpernel series. Sir Andrew is loyal to his friend and leader, the Scarlet Pimpernel, just like Phryne is loyal to her friends. She will walk through fire for the people she loves.

Doll news!

One of my friends (maybe more of an acquaintance)  from the doll hobby is selling a lot of her dolls because she wants to buy a motorbike. She has some very cool and very limited dolls. I bought my Ringdoll Zombie Sol from her, and when I picked him up, I saw all her fancy dolls. She has dolls like Soom Bix, Souldoll Tarot dolls and Souloid dolls, she even has Souldoll Kowalski(!), and my favourit Iplehouse Cyborg Bianca.

I asked her if she was selling Cyborg Bianca too, and after some consideration she let me buy her! I'm super excited! Cyborg Bianca is one of the Iplehouse dolls I most regret not buying. She is amazing! And now she's moving in with me :D

I'm thinking Cyborg will fit in with the Freak and Geeks story with Zombie, Voodoo, Scorpio, and Lady Snake.

Speaking of the Freaks and Geeks; Voodoo and Scorpio should be here within a week. I'm so excited to see them irl. Also I'm planning to make Zombie a new wig; the old one is falling apart ever since I tried to colour it, and I need new eyes for either Zombie or Nathaniel as they are currently sharing.

As I am currently right in the middle of an exam (3 day take-home exam) I felt now was a perfect opportunity to update my blog :D

In the middle of April I received my Fifth Motif Venitu and I shipping him off to Russia just a few days later for a faceup. He's supposed to be a Voodoo king, and I wanted something very specific. Like a painted skull face but not a perfect one (if that makes sense). I just saw the finished result and I love him! He's just as I imagined him to be.

Here is a link to him on the faceup artist Flickr:

I also sent along my Elfdoll Vivien head. The head I wanted blushed to match a Soom Vesuvia body in bronze. For her I had no clear imagine of how I wanted her; I wanted her not to be pretty/girly but more rough.

And here is a link to her faceup (with her headcap to see the blushing):

I'm super excited to see my babies arrived home. I already have the first outfit ready for Venitu, but I haven't painted his body yet (I want his body covered in tattoos).

A tiny little story about a small group of friends...

There once was a boy, who just happened to be a Zombie. He was a somewhat happy boy, but would have appreciated not being a zombie in the first place, as it scared people away. He could not do magic, but he had a heart of gold, though he believed it was just a gilded 'normal' heart.

Zombie once met a girl, who was not scared of his looks. She was a very pretty girl, thought Zombie, and they started talking. After a short while he noticed something strange about the girl; she had a scorpion tail! She tried to hide it for she was ashamed of it. People usually saw it, and called her a freak. But Zombie looked at her, and told her that she was beautiful with her amazing tail. From that moment they became the best of friends.

They both wished they were normal. But how can you be normal when you are the Scorpion-Girl and the Zombie-boy?
By magic of course! Zombie took Scorpio's hand and together they left to find a magician; they knew one excised for they had seen him before. So they set out to find the Voodoo-King; the master of magic!

The Voodoo King lived near and they went to meet him. He was very kind but never had any clients, so he had had to sell his shop. People were scared of him and his magic; they feared him for he had the power to turn them into frogs! It was the only spell he could do without any ingredients.
The Voodoo king wished he could help them, but he no longer had all the ingredients he would need for the magic. Scorpio and Zombie said, if Voodoo-King would help them, then they would help Voodoo-King in return with his shop. They all agreed to go and find the ingredients, so now Scorpion-Girl and Zombie-Boy were joined by Voodoo-King, and they all set out to find the missing ingredients.

On their way they saw a crying girl with living snakes in her hair. Scorpio went to her, and asked why she was sad. The Snake-Lady said that people feared her, for any who looked into her eyes would turn into stone. Voodoo said, he could help her but needed just one ingredient, and asked if she would join them on their journey. She was afraid of turning them into stone, but Scorpio took a scarf and tied it around the girl's eyes, so the problem was slowed until they could fix her eyes. And so Snake-Lady joined their little party.

As Snake-Lady could not walk by herself, because she could not see anything, the others offered to guide her. Most often it would be Zombie, who guided her, for he was slowly falling in love with the girl, who's face he had never seen, but who's mind was spectacular. As Zombie was helping Snake Lady, Voodoo and Scorpio found themselves stealing glances at each other.

The little group journeyed on and maybe they happened to find happiness, acceptance, and love along the way, but who knows...?

As you might have guessed this is a small story around some of my dolls:
Zombie-Boy is Ringdoll Zombie Sol
Scorpion-Girl is Elfdoll Vivien / Soom Vesuvia hybrid (out for a faceup)
Voodoo-King is Fifth Motif Venitu (out for a faceup)
Snake-Lady is Simply Divine Medusa Valentina (waiting for the head but also needs a body)

Interview and story-time with Nathaniel [Iplehouse Rex real skin]

Nathaniel was not tagged for an interview, but I felt like doing his because he has a developed character, so here we go! :D

As his story is based on historic battles and facts mixed with a lot of fiction, it's bit difficult to tell in just a few answers, so I'm sorry if it does not make complete sense (please, just ask and I will clarify).

1) What is your name:’

Sir Nathaniel Henry Milton

2) What is your nationality/ethnicity?

I was born in Llanrumney, Cardiff, South Wales, Kingdom of England, which makes me English.

3) When were you born/how old are you?

1622 so I'm about 35 years old now.

4) What is your race (human/angel/demon/etc)?

I am a human.

5) Are you single or taken? Who is your lover/crush?

My heart was stolen by a Captain Morgan O'Malley; the most amazing woman I have ever met.

6) Are you straight/bi/trans/etc?

7) Favourite hobby?

Practicing fencing, I think, as standing at the helm of my ship does not really count as a hobby.

8) Favourite food& drink?

Possibly rum. I have found a great appreciation for Captain Morgan Rum.

9) Do you have a job?

Yes, I am a Captain in the Royal Navy.

10) What is your favourite animal?

Animal? I suppose I like a good beef stew, so probably bovines?

11) What is your bad habit?

I might be a bit full of myself and I do enjoy being praised just a bit too much.

12) What is your favourite hangout?

I used to enjoy hanging out on the deck of my ship but that was before my men were murdered and my ship was lost.

13) Do you have a favourite holiday?

I can't remember the last time I was able to celebrate a holiday.

14) Dolls (from other families) you'd like to meet?

I believe I would actually get along very well with little Ayla and little Alice. They seem like nice little kids, who will not judge me based on rumors but on how I treat them.

15) Would you briefly tell us your background?

I was born the year of grace 1622 as the eldest son of John Milton, a farmer living in the vicinity of Cardiff, Wales. I had no interest in becoming a farmer, so I joined the English Navy just as the English Civil War broke out (an: 1642-51).

I was able to make Captain very quickly, and I was given command over my own ship and served in the Dutch War (an: The First Dutch War, 1652-54).

We went on to fight in the Anglo-Spanish War (an: 1654–60). Our objective was, given by Oliver Cromwell (an: the Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland), to invade Spanish territory in the West Indies and to capture Hispaniola.
At first our mission seemed to be blessed to succeed but the Spanish Navy had Bernardino Meneses y Bracamonte, and he was an excellent military leader, though I loath to admit it.

The English Navy had hired privateers to help fight the Spanish in the Caribbean, but not all the privateers actually worked for England. One of the privateers was a traitor, and was hired by Bernardino Meneses to destroy as many English ships as he could. Unfortunately for my crew, we were lured into an ambush. I was the only survivor. Why was I not killed too? Because Bernardino Meneses considered me and my ship the best in the English Navy and we had sunk his cousin's ship, so I was to be destroyed mentally first. I was made to watch my men being slaughtered around me, while I was unable to help them. I still sometimes have nightmares about it; the blood, the destruction, the killings...

I was beaten half to death, dumped on a deserted island, and left to die. I do not know if they sunk my ship or if they simply stole it.

What the privateer had not considered was the fact that the island was used by a pirate crew to hide their loot. I was discovered just a few days later when the pirate crew came to the island. Why they decided to save me, I do not know, and I was not lucid through most of it. When I finally came through I was at a monastery in Jamaica. I spend a while at the monastery finding my peace with God, for I could not understand why my men had to die.

The monks told me, I was brought to them by the Lady Pirate. I could not remember much, but a face seemed clear in my mind; the face of a beautiful young woman. From the moment I woke, I had one mission: to find the woman again! I do not know what drove me so to her, but I could do nothing but think of her.

After I left the monastery, I went to look for the Lady Pirate. I made my way to Port Royal. Along the way I heard rumours of the Lady Pirate; she was a young woman privateer (an: she's a corsair) under the French crown. She sailed from Tortuga, and if I wanted to see her again, I would have to go there. As Tortuga was under French administration at the time, I could not show up as a English Navy captain, so I changed my outfit to look like a pirate. From Port Royal I was able to join a crew sailing for Hispaniola and from there I made my way to Tortuga.

Eventually I was able to meet the Lady Pirate; Captain Morgan O'Malley, but that is a story for an other time.

Interview with Elsa Maria

It took a while to write and post this, sorry! School is busy, and Elsa Maria is not a developed character.
I'll not tag anyone else to do these interviews now.
I've realized, while writing this, that most of my dolls are from United Kingdom! Haha

1) What is your name:’
Elsa Maria. Actually my full name is Elsa Maria Antoinette Marguerite Victoria Jones but please just call me Elsa Maria! Mom (and my owner) just had a thing for fancy long names.
2) What is your nationality/ethnicity?
I'm from England. My family lived in a little town when I was born, but we moved when I was about ten. We moved to a bigger city because my brother got sick and we needed to be closer to the hospital.
3) When were you born/how old are you?
May 10th 1994. I hate to sound like my brother and just throw random facts into these interviews but... Did you know Victoria Woodhull was nominated for presidency on May 10th 1872 as the first woman EVER in the United States? I googled my birthday and I thought that was a pretty cool fact.
4) What is your race (human/angel/demon/etc)?
I am a human.
5) Are you single or taken? Who is your lover/crush?
Single. I have never had a boyfriend. Most people get scared when they see my brother, and I can never be with someone who is afraid of him; he's all the family I have left!
6) Are you straight/bi/trans/etc?
Straight, I think. I've never really thought about it much. Honestly, I imagine love to be free of genders, but I am mostly attracted to men.
7) Favorite hobby?
Uhm, reading probably. I love to disappearing into new and wonderful worlds for a few hours.
8) Favorite food& drink?
My absolute favorite drink is Coca Cola... Blame my owner, she drinks it all the time, and I tried it when she was not home, and now I like it just as much as she.
9) Do you have a job?
No, I sometimes get to help my brother when he's experimenting, but he doesn't pay me.
10) What is your favorite animal?
I think my all time favorite animals might be dragons! When I was a child I read the Tamora Pierce Wild Magic series and I loved Skysong (Kitten) so much. I kept begging my parents to let me have a baby dragon too, but they wouldn't.
11) What is your bad habit?
I wouldn't say it's a bad habit but Hamlet says it is; I love reading so much that I often disappear into the stories and forget about the world around me. I never pay attention to the news but I know all about my favorite stories.
12) What is your favorite hangout?
My big cozy armchair, it's just perfect for reading!
13) Do you have a favourite holiday?
Probably, New Year's Eve. To celebrate the start of a new year and the good things to come.
14) Dolls (from other families) you'd like to meet?
I'm really excited to meet Ophelia! Did you know Ophelia and Freyah are my cousins? But I'm so shy, maybe they will not like me?
15) Would you briefly tell us your background?
I was born in 1994 and until my brother got sick, the most interesting thing to happen was when I went through the ice while ice-skating on a frozen lake in my old neighborhood.
My life now revolves around my brother; he is everything to me, and I love him dearly.

Nathaniel Henry Milton (Iplehouse Rex)

Most of you probably noticed I've received a new doll; Iplehouse EID Rex.
He was an auction on Iplehouse's site and therefore I got him shipped for about half price of what he should have cost.

Ever since Iplehouse started their Carved Haritage series I've been dreaming of pirate dolls but none of them were what I wanted... until Bane came. His outfit was so cool, and his face was amazing. Until I saw it blank. Bane's blank face was boring and I couldn't make up my mind if I wanted him. So I joined a split for his outfit and sword.

My favourite EID man is Rex. There's something about his lips that I love. I had been thinking of getting him in light brown but I wanted to wait until I've played more with Lille_Aki's EID Chase. Then Iplehouse made an auction for Rex and I was sold. I wanted him and I got him :)

I have settled on a name now, and I now some of his history. I will enjoy figuring out the rest including how he met and fell in love with Morgan O'Malley (considering her allegiance was to France and his was to the Kingdom of England)

Sir Nathaniel Henry Milton (born ca. 1625) is a Welsh privateer, pirate, and admiral of the Royal Navy, who made a name for himself in the Caribbean.

Interviews with Morgan and Zombie (tagged by Akatsuki and Anori)

Both Morgan and Hamlet were tagged for these interviews, so here we go:
First up we have Morgan (before she met Nathaniel)...

1) What is your name:
Captain Morgan O’Malley.
2) What is your nationality/ethnicity?
Does it matter? I have not been ‘home’ in years: not since they charged me with a death penalty and declared I would be hanged if they caught me. I consider myself a woman of the sea, or else maybe French. I sail my ship under the French crown now. My base is in Tortuga, which is currently under French government, so I might be French now?
3) When were you born/how old are you?
I’m in my late twenties.  I was born in the year of 1630.
4) What is your race (human/angel/demon/etc)?
5) Are you single or taken? Who is your lover/crush?
Single. I have never been in love so it’s impossible for me to answer.
6) Are you straight/bi/trans/etc?
I consider myself straight
7) Favorite hobby?
Stealing gold and causing trouble for England and Spain?
8) Favorite food & drink?
Rum! Especially Captain Morgan Rum…
9) Do you have a job?
Well, I don’t actually have a job, but I’ve succeeded in making a living for myself as a pirate queen. So my job might simply be to steal gold and cause trouble for England and Spain.
10) What is your favorite animal?
To eat? Whatever animal is freshly caught as I don’t much like meat that has been preserved in brine.
11) What is your bad habit?
I might be a bit of a drama queen…
12) What is your favorite hangout?
A bank maybe or a gold reserve?
13) Do you have a favourite holiday?
No really. Christmas holds bad memories for me so that is my least favorite holiday.
14) Dolls (from other families) you'd like to meet?
I don’t know. Are there any other pirates out there? Or maybe someone who can use a sword and who would sail with me.
15) Would you briefly tell us your background?
I was born into a life of poverty. Early on I discovered the power of gold, and I stole to get by. Having been caught once too many by the guards, I fled to sea and boarded a pirate ship. The captain of the ship took me under his wing, and I quickly accepted the ship as my new home, and I learned to commandeer it. When the old captain died I took control of the ship. Few have challenged my position but none have had the ability to take it from me.
Now we sail from Tortuga. We usually attack ships from England and Spain.

And up next we have Zombie…

1) What is your name:
Hamlet Jones
2) What is your nationality/ethnicity?
I was born in England in a quiet little town. My parents ran a bed and breakfast when I was young.
3) When were you born/how old are you?
April 26th 1986. I’ve been told it was a day of many deaths but I don’t think that was my fault.
4) What is your race (human/angel/demon/etc)?
I am a human thought many consider me a freak.
5) Are you single or taken? Who is your lover/crush?
Single. I had a girlfriend before I was turned into a zombie but she left me.
6) Are you straight/bi/trans/etc?
Straight as a butterfly
7) Favorite hobby?
Contemplating the future and reading Shakespeare
8) Favorite food & drink?
My favorite food is human brains but I rarely get it. I need to eat brains to keep my own brain active. If I don’t, then my own brain will slowly decay and rot. But I don’t want to kill humans to eat their brains so I get brains from morgues.
9) Do you have a job?
No, no one wants to hire a zombie…
10) What is your favorite animal?
Pigs: their brain closely resembles the human brain, and I can use it as a substitute and I can easily get it. Did you know; the human and the pig brains are both gyrencephalic, which means the cerebral cortex of the brain has convolutions. A brain with more convolutions is associated with higher connectivity and complexity. Also the ratio of white to grey matter within human and pig brains are almost the same (about 60:40 white to grey).
11) What is your bad habit?
I don’t usually clean my clothes. I know it makes my sister frustrated but, I must admit, I kind of like the bloody clothes as they are.
12) What is your favorite hangout?
A morgue or a lab: a morgue for the availability of human brains, and a lab to make experiments on pig brains. I’m trying to infuse a pig brain with neural stem cells from a human in an attempt to make the brain even more human. If it works it might revolutionize the zombie-population’s feeding habits.
13) Do you have a favourite holiday?
14) Dolls (from other families) you'd like to meet?
I don’t really know. I’m sorry but I’m not good with names and new people. Is there a neuroscientist doll? I would love to discuss my research.
15) Would you briefly tell us your background?
I was born in 1986 and my childhood was pleasant. My sister was born when I was eight and from day one we were the best of friends. I went to school and studied to become a doctor but unfortunately I got a strange sickness in my late teens. It changed my appearance and my mind. The doctors believe it’s some kind of encephalopathy (usually I just called it the Zombie Sickness). They don’t know if it’s caused by toxins or an infection of some kind. I am not the only case but not much is known about this sickness as it mostly strikes in underdeveloped countries. It is like the skin is rotting of my bones, and my mental abilities deteriorate as many tiny holes appear in the cortex of my brain: it will make my brain look a sponge eventually. But I found, the symptoms can be stopped by eating brains; human brains are the best but any brain that resembles the human brain is fine.
My sister lives with me now, because we don’t know how much time I have left. This sickness is eating away at my body. I wish to live each day without regrets.

And to continue this I'll tag:
